Abstinence: All Catholics who have reached their 14th birthday are required to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, all Fridays of Lent and Good Friday.
Fasting: All Catholics between their 18th and 60th birthdays are required to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. This means to limit oneself to a single full meal and avoid food between meals. Small meals may be eaten on two other occasions in the course of the day.
